Review of a prototype D1 by Ace (Martin Kent) from his blog
I finally got the chance to check out the Dickinson Overdrive pedal I got just before the tour started. I hooked it up in the studio with various guitars through really good quality boutique valve amps and Van Damme Silver cables. The sound was really incredible, retaining the original pure tone of the amp and character of the guitar, but driving it from fat crunch to full meltdown. The centre dial is used for high cut or boost and can shape the sound from thick fat stoner sounds to crisp clear searing solo leads. the overall drive is well controlled with no harsh overtones or EQ problems in your guitar sound and the overdrive from the real valves it has is very rich and full.
It’s a very exciting pedal if you are a lover of really fat organic tones and pure sounds from guitars and amps. All hand made and to serious specs, you can check it out at www.dickinsonamps.com
